Bender Receives Dissertation Research Fellowship

Doctoral candidate Stephanie Bender has received the International Dissertation Semester Research Fellowship from the FSU Graduate School for the Fall of 2016. Bender will spend the semester in Germany completing archival research for her dissertation, “Constructions of the Angestellte: Photographs of the Salaried Class in the Weimar Republic.” Her research focuses on constructions of class in avant-garde German photographic portraiture and its dissemination in mass media. Bender will travel to to the Bauhaus Archive in Berlin to examine archival photographs and documents, and to Stuttgart to access Weimar critic theorist Siegfried Kracauer’s personal papers held at the Deutsches Literaturarchiv in Marbach am Neckar.
