Published July 5, 2016

BowmanBanner16It’s a busy year of travel research and presentations for PhD candidate Amy Bowman.  In the spring she presented “‘From My Institution To Yours’: Critiquing the Museum as Frame” as an invited lecturer at the West Virginia University School of Art and Design.  She also received a Mason Dissertation Research Award, which she will use for travel to Los Angeles and New York for research on the contemporary artist Mike Kelley.  In the fall, she is co-authoring an exhibition review with Gabriela Germana for the Journal of Curatorial Studies on the exhibition “Vacio Museal: Medio Siglo de Museotopias Peruanas (1966 – 2014)” on view at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Lima, Peru. She will also be presenting, “Mike Kelley’s Pedagogical Perversions: Body Horror as Institutional Critique in Blind Country (1989)” at SECAC in October 2016.
