Professor Doron Bauer has received an award from the Gerda Henkel Foundation in the amount of €22,500. The grant supports Dr. Bauer’s ambitious research project, “Lost at Sea: Islands and the Topology of Cultural Interactions in the Mediterranean,” exploring the role of the Balearic islands in mediating transculturation processes across the Mediterranean space.
The Gerda Henkel Foundation, based in Dusseldorf, Germany, has been operating since 1976 as a non-profit granting agency supporting academic research primarily in the humanities, with a concentration in cultural heritage and archaeology. The Foundation is among the most prestigious and elite private granting agencies in Europe, supporting senior fellowships and visiting professorships annually at Oxford University, Stanford University, and the Institute for Advanced Studies at Princeton.
