The FABER RESIDENCY, the Residency of Arts, Sciences and Humanities of Catalonia, located in Olot (Catalonia), 120 km from Barcelona. Faber, the Arts, Sciences and Humanities Residency of Catalonia in Olot is a place for professionals to stay together and to work on their personal projects. Apply by July 12.
During their stay, the residents will collaborate in different kinds of activities (lectures, workshops, round tables, seminars, working groups) addressed to students, other professionals and general public. The activities will be carried out in accordance with a project, taking into account previous demands and necessities.
The Faber Residency will devote the first residency of 2019/2020 course (on September-October) to CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS.
Cultural institutions around the world see how the circumstances and spaces that created them and that make sense of them change. Culture changes and the world changes, the audiences and the knowledge they want to transmit change and the distances between spectators and producers change. Everything changes, as does the legitimacy and authority of those who can decide how knowledge is shared because the identity of those who can say it changes.
Faber wants to be a space for open debate where all these issues and many others can be debated.
Faber’s objective is to promote the exchange among residents and the educational community that hosts them, in Olot, la Garrotxa and Catalonia. Faber, the Residence for the Arts, Sciences and Humanities of Catalonia in Olot is a project of the Olot City Council and the Generalitat de Catalunya. The first stay in the residence was organized in September 2016 and since then more than 150 residents have come to Faber. We have organized activities (conferences, meetings, round tables, seminars, workshops, etc.) in Olot and Catalonia, in high schools, cultural centers, libraries, companies and universities.
What do we offer? Our residents have the best working conditions and an environment to accompany their projects. In Faber there are spacious rooms, designed to provide comfortable working conditions. There are also several common areas where the residents will be able to exchange their experiences with each other, with the public and with institutions.
Faber will take care of the resident’s stay providing accommodation, half-board (breakfast and dinner) and fully-equipped kitchen in case the residents would like to prepare their own lunch. Faber does not cover any travel costs. There is no per diem.

To assess the projects, we will take into account the candidate’s curriculum, the work project, the quality of the proposed activities and the flexibility to adapt to different audiences.
