Juan Barceló-González joined the Department of Art History as Academic Program Specialist in 2016. Juan received his MA in Art History at FSU in 2012.  As a graduate student he served as the Vice President of the Art History Association and assisted as chair of a Symposium session. After receiving his MA, Juan worked at the Gadsden Arts Center as a Curatorial Assistant, where he managed the Artists Guild and assisted with the installation of four gallery exhibitions for the Fall season.

Juan comes to us from the Department of Modern Languages & Linguistics at FSU, where he served as the Undergraduate Advisor to both majors and language requirement students.  A native Spanish speaker and fluent English speaker, Juan has also learned German, French, and Latin, and has begun his study of Russian.  His enthusiasm for language study made him an ideal candidate for Modern Languages as both advisor and the face of the department.

As the new academic advisor for Art History, Juan brings a perfect pairing of qualifications: his knowledge of University protocol and procedures and his background as an art historian. His duties include graduate and undergraduate advising,  overlooking the departmental workflow, and scheduling. He also works with the department chair and staff to promote the graduate and undergraduate Art History and Museum & Cultural Heritage Studies programs.
