Art History Assistant Professor Doron Bauer has been awarded a three-month research fellowship from the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence. As a result, this summer, he will be advancing his research in Florence as part of the “Convivencia: Iberian to Global Dynamics (500–1750)” initiative. Professor Bauer’s research will focus on the reception of Islamic artifacts in Pisa between the 10th and 14th centuries. The inquiry will be conducted with a view towards the first century of the discovery of America in order to assess continuity and change in the reception of artifacts associated with non-Christian cultures between the Middle Ages and the Age of Discovery.
