Forgotten Canopy Conference Series Co-organized by Paul …

Associate Professors of Art History Paul Niell (FSU) and Stella Nair (UCLA) co-organized the conference series The Forgotten Canopy: Ecology, Ephemeral Architecture, and Imperialism in the Caribbean, South American, and Transatlantic Worlds. This core program concludes with Conference 3: Imperialism in April, 2023, at the Center for 17th– and 18th–Century Studies of the Clark Memorial Library of UCLA.

Alumna Selena Chambers Publishes Book on Seminal 90s Gr …

Selena Chambers (BA ’04) has just celebrated the release of her new book, Babes in Toyland’s Fontanelle, her third book in a writing career in fiction and non-fiction. Chambers’ work has been nominated for the Pushcart, Colorado Book Award, Best of the Net, the Hugo Award, and World Fantasy awards. Babes in Toyland’s Fontanelle is part of Bloomsbury Academic’s prestigious 33 1/3 book series that focuses on seminal albums throughout music recording history.

Doctoral Student Danelle Bernten Publishes Thornton Dia …

Doctoral student Danelle Bernten has published an exhibition review of the Thornton Dial show at the Wiregrass Museum of Art in Dothan, AL, in the arts magazine Number Inc. She also presented her paper “Worship and Warnings: Basquiat’s Portrait of the Vodou Loa, Baron Samedi” at the Annual Meeting of the Southeast Region of the American Academy of Religion in March.
