Alumni Highlights, September 2025

Art History
Sebastian Diaz Herrera (BA ’25) has been named the curatorial fellow at the Women Photographers International Archive in Miami, FL. As the fellow, he manages the Green Space gallery and has begun spearheading an educational institute for the nonprofit.
 
Segundo Fernandez (PhD ’18) presented his paper, “The Theatre and the Easel: The Depiction of Meteorological Effects in Watercolour Painting and Stage Productions in Georgian England,” at the “Watercolour & Weather” symposium hosted by the Musée Cantonal des Beaux-Arts de Lausanne in Switzerland.  Based on research from his dissertation, he demonstrated how weather effects in fine-art painting were developed by artists during their early careers as theatrical scene painters.  
 
Emily Oxford-Pickeral (BA ’21) has accepted a year-long position in museum interpretation and exhibit development at the Beverly Heritage Center in Beverly, West Virginia. This position is overseen by the Appalachian Forest National Heritage Area and funded through Americorps. After graduating from FSU, Emily earned her MA in Art History and Museum Studies at the University of Denver. During her graduate studies she returned to FSU to give a paper at the 40th Annual Art History Graduate Symposium.
 
Tanya Pattison-Arraiza (MA ’24) is the Brian P. Kennedy Leadership Fellow at the Toledo Museum of Art. Her fellowship blends curatorial and executive level work, giving her hands-on experience in strategy execution, policy development, programming leadership, community outreach, board development, philanthropy stewardship, and financial management. As the Latin American art specialist, Tanya assists in expanding TMA’s definition of American art by incorporating Latin American perspectives into TMA’s gallery narratives. In addition to her fellowship responsibilities, she was named the 2025-2026 Georgia Wells Apollo Society Co-Curator of the Year in partnership with Director of Curatorial Affairs, Dr. Anna Marely.
 
Jaccie Reaves (MA ’25) has accepted a position as membership associate at the Dallas Museum of Art, beginning in September 2025.

After graduating from the MA program in Museum & Cultural Heritage Studies in the spring, Jessica Salaun moved from her Ringling Track internship into a full-time position as Collections Department Program Associate at The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota. Jessica handles the administrative tasks associated with exhibitions, conservation projects, acquisitions, and loans. She also assists the Registration Department as needed, overseeing loan shipments, performing object movements, and completing data readings of art storage spaces.
