Media Center
Services

The Art History Media Center provides the following digital materials, training, and support for faculty, staff, and students in Art History and the College of Fine Arts. Some resources are also available to the wider FSU community.

Madison Digital Image Database (MDID)

The Media Center maintains a database of over 50,000 digital images from the history of art for educational use by FSU faculty and students. The Madison Digital Image Database (MDID) is both an archive and a presentation delivery tool. Patrons can use MDID’s built-in multifunction presentation viewer, download images for use in other applications, or merge groups of images directly into PowerPoint. For instructions, see our MDID Guide.

Text Scans & Archive

Media Center staff can scan and prepare searchable accessibility-compliant PDF files for Art History courses or (for professors with TAs) train TAs in file preparation. We also maintain a database of 4,500+ articles; contact the Media Center director, Jean Hudson, for details.

Rose Library Database

The Art & Design Library (Rose Library) is home to a non-circulating collection of more than 10,000 books donated by FSU faculty, alumni, and students. You may use or scan the books in the Library. Though it will remain non-circulating, the collection is currently being catalogued for incorporation into the FSU Libraries database for easier searching. Meanwhile, to search for a specific title, contact Jean Hudson or ask the graduate student on-site staff.

Digital Signage

The Media Center manages digital notices and ads for College of Fine Arts departments on four LCD screens in the WJB atrium. Contact Jean Hudson to have a CFA slide posted.

Canvas Support

The Media Center offers support and training for professors and graduate assistants using Canvas, the university’s learning management system. See our Canvas Guide for answers to the most common questions.
