The Medieval Studies Organization will host an online lecture by Art History Assistant Professor Erika Loic on Friday, November 6 at 6:00 pm. Dr. Loic will present “Uncovering Prophetic Authority in the Art of the Medieval Bible.” The lecture is free and open to the public; register here to receive the Zoom link.
Dr. Loic joined the Department of Art History this fall after holding a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Medieval Art and Digital Humanities at the University of Toronto Mississauga. She specializes in global medieval art history, manuscript illumination, and the Iberian Peninsula. She is especially interested in materiality and the effects of translating word and image across media, not only historically but also in Digital Humanities initiatives. Dr. Loic is currently preparing a book project on the eleventh-century Ripoll and Roda Bibles, which were produced at the monastery of Santa Maria de Ripoll in the Marca Hispanica (Catalonia).
