Dr. Paul Niell participated in the virtual symposium O Gosto Neoclássico: A Dimensão Americana: Instituições, atores e obras/The Neoclassical Taste: The American Dimension: Institutions, Authors, and Works organized by the Fundação Casa de Rui Barbosa in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Presentations were given by several Brazil, Europe, and US-based scholars, including Kelly Donahue-Wallace, Dell Upton, and Paul Niell.
The symposium focused on Neoclassicism across the American hemisphere and was open to the public.
Dr. Niell presented “No Taste for Thatching: Value, Aesthetics, and Urban Reform in the Bohios of Nineteenth-Century Puerto Rico” on Monday, March 22.
