CALL FOR PAPERS: 40th Annual Art History Graduate Stude …

The Florida State University Art History faculty and graduate students invite current PhD and MA students to submit abstracts for papers to be presented at the 40th Annual Art History Graduate Student Symposium. The symposium will take place March 1–2, 2024, on our main campus in Tallahassee, FL. The deadline for submission of abstracts is November 1, 2023.

FSU Museum of Fine Arts presents ‘Intertwined: Labor …

The Florida State University Museum of Fine Arts is pleased to open “Intertwined: Labor and Technology in Contemporary Textile Art,” a new exhibition co-curated by alumnus Keidra Daniels Navaroli (MA Art History 2007) and Annie Booth, MoFA’s curatorial assistant and visitor engagement coordinator.

Welcome Dr. Mora Beauchamp-Byrd!

We are excited to welcome Dr. Mora Beauchamp-Byrd to Florida State University this fall as Associate Professor of Art History and Director of Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies. An art historian, arts administrator, and curator, she specializes in the art and visual culture of the African Diaspora; Art of the Americas; British art; global modern & contemporary art; museum & curatorial studies; and representations of race, class and gender in American comics.


Doctoral Candidate Caitlin Mims Receives Fulbright Gree …

Doctoral candidate Caitlin Mims is the recipient of a Fulbright Greece-Turkey Joint Research Award for the 2023-24 academic year. Caitlin will conduct research at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens and at Marmara University in Istanbul.

Welcome Dr. Brendan Weaver!

We are excited to introduce Dr. Brendan Weaver, who joins the FSU Department of Art History this fall as Visiting Assistant Professor. Dr. Weaver is an historical archaeologist focusing on material culture and the built environment, including visual arts and architecture, among indigenous and African-descended peoples of Latin America.


Doctoral Candidate Cindy Evans Accepts Tenure-Track Pos …

Congratulations to doctoral candidate Cindy Evans, who has accepted a tenure-track position in the Department of Art & Design at Southern Utah University in Cedar City, Utah. Cindy joins the faculty this fall as an assistant professor specializing in modern and global contemporary art.
