Congratulations to Our Newest Alumni! Meet the 2026 Art History Graduates

Art History

We are proud to introduce the 2026 FSU Art History graduates! The following recipients of BA, MA, and PhD degrees in Art History excelled in their coursework and extracurricular and professional activities.

The Art History community hosted an in-house ceremony and celebration for our graduates and their families on Friday, May 1; see the photo gallery at the bottom of this page.

The event included a special presentation for Sofia Nuonno, who earned the the Rose Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Achievement in Art History. 

Zoe Albrigo

Zoe Albrigo graduates this spring with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a Minor in Museum Studies. During her time at FSU, Zoe served as an intern at the Museum of Fine Arts, an active member of the Undergraduate Art History Association, and a part-time collections assistant at the Florida Historic Capitol Museum. She writes, “My four years at Florida State have been extremely fulfilling. I have made many friends and developed a network of great people that I look forward to seeing even after I graduate. After graduation, I plan to enter the museum world full-time as a registrar or art handler, and I also have plans to advance my education in the future.”

Julia DeBardeleben

Julia DeBardeleben graduates this spring from the Florida State University Honors Program with a BA in Art History and minors in Anthropology and Museum Studies. During her time at FSU, she worked at Special Collections and Archives at the University Libraries for three years and was president of Art Society. Following graduation, Julia will be presenting her Honors in the Major Thesis at the International Congress on Medieval Studies in May, and she will begin an MSLIS at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the fall.

Leasah Jean-Francois

Leasah Jean-Francois will graduate in the summer of 2026 with a BA in Art History and a minor in Museum Studies. Her major research focus is Early Christian Iconography in the Late Antique/Byzantine period.  Leasah writes, “While at FSU I have been gifted amazing opportunities to travel and gain research experience in museum curating, art history and archeology. I have also developed lasting relationships with students and faculty in the college though my courses and involvement with the College Leadership Council for the College of Fine Arts and as an officer of the Museum Society at FSU.”

Shena Kamata

Shena Kamata is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History with a minor in Museum Studies. During her time at FSU she served as the Community Outreach Officer of the College of Fine Arts’ Leadership Council, and Lead Designer for SIX Magazine. In the past four years, Shena has had internship opportunities at the National Museum of America History, FSU’s Museum of Fine Arts, and the State of Florida’s Bureau of Archaeological Research. After graduation, she plans to continue pursuing museum conservation and preservation.

Azanna Law is graduating in the summer of 2026 with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History. Azanna writes that her favorite classes at FSU were Visual & Material Culture of the African Diaspora with Dr. Weaver and Modern & Contemporary African American Art with Dr. Beauchamp-Byrd. After graduation, she plans to take a gap year to gain experience in the art world and then start a master’s program in library and information studies.

Emilia Sofia Minton is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History with a Minor in Communications. She began her studies at the University of South Florida, where she served as an intern for the Centre Gallery. During her time at FSU, Emilia served as video staff and a staff writer for the online publication, HER Campus, where her articles received over 11.1 thousand views. Emilia writes, ” I am eternally grateful to all my professors who have guided me during these past two years. I am so grateful for all the lessons I have learned and the memories I have made here at FSU!” After graduation, Emilia plans on returning for her Master’s in Communications and Media. Then she hopes to continue working in the museum and gallery industry.

Sofia Nuonno graduates this spring with a dual degree in Art History and English Literature, as well as a minor in Museum Studies. She will begin the Art History MA program at Florida State in the coming year. During her undergraduate studies at FSU, Sofia served as both a UROP Leader and UROP Leader Mentor within the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program at the Center for Undergraduate Research and Academic Engagement (CRE). In addition, she completed an Honors in the Major Thesis titled Illustrating Continuity: Narrative and Movement in Early Modern European Print under the supervision of Dr. Stephanie Leitch. At the Art History graduation ceremony, Sophia received the 2026 Rose Award for Outstanding Undergraduate Achievement. She intends to pursue a PhD in Art History and aims to establish a career in academia.

Cassidy Robinson

Cassidy Robinson completed a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a Bachelor of Science in Marketing in May 2026. During her time at FSU, Cassidy served as a library assistant at the FSU Art & Design Library and as the Administrative and Records Officer of the Undergraduate Art History Association. She was also a collections intern at the Tallahassee Museum and served as an Exploratory Peer Advising Leader (EPAL) for first-year students in the Exploratory Advising Program. She currently has long-term goals of a career in the museum field after pursuing a master’s degree in art history. 

Alyson Swindler

Alyson Swindler graduates summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History and a minor in museum studies. Throughout her time at FSU, Alyson has prioritized praxis through internships at the Tallahassee Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, and FSU’s Museum of Fine Arts. As a transfer student, Alyson found encouragement and steady guidance in the faculty and staff in the Department of Art History as she worked across broad areas of study. Alyson will continue to work in the arts and museum industry, employing her skills and interests in writing, editing, and photography.

Liberty West is graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Art History with minors in Museum Studies and Italian and a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology with a minor in Chemistry.  During her time at Florida State University, Liberty served as secretary and president of the Syncopation Tap Troupe, was involved in the Alpha Chi Sigma Professional Chemistry Fraternity and UAHA, received the Bucher-Loewenstein Museum Studies Scholarship to attend the Archeological Field School at Cetamura del Chianti as a curatorial intern, and interned with FSU’s Historic Costume and Textiles Collection and the Florida Bureau of Archaeological Research’s Conservation Laboratory. She also completed her thesis, Archaeological Spectrometry of Local and Non-Local Pottery from the Lower Mississippi Valley for Honors in the Major in anthropology.  In the fall, she will continue her studies at the University of Pennsylvania, pursuing a Master’s in Historic Preservation with a specialization in architectural conservation.

Madison Appleton

MA in Art History: Museum & Cultural Heritage Studies

Madison Appleton is graduating with an MA in Art History with a major in Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies. During her time in the program, she was a member of the NAIS Indigenous Film Committee and had her work on spatial theory and rock climbing published in the College of Fine Arts SIX Magazine. She worked as both a Graduate Assistant at the FSU Museum of Fine Arts and as a Collections Intern at the National Park Service’s Southeast Archaeological Center. Shortly after graduation, she will continue her career with the National Park Service as a Museum Technician at the Blue Ridge Parkway in Asheville, North Carolina. 

Kyleelise Holmes Thomas

Kyleelise Holmes Thomas is graduating with an MA in Art History with a major in Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies. She spent her second year in the program as an MCHS Intern and Graduate Assistant at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, where she worked with the Collections and Education teams to inventory, rehouse, and update TMS database records of The Ringling’s Education collection; and completed many projects in the Circus, Archives, Performance, Collections, Marketing, and Education departments. She also worked closely with Elizabeth Doud supporting The Ringling’s Art of Performance program. Kyleelise writes, “Even while in Sarasota, I stayed connected to our Tallahassee campus, mentoring two brilliant and dedicated UROP research assistants, Eros Suarez Dorta and Gabriela Gutierrez,  who not only presented their research poster on our artists’ biography writing project at the 2026 Undergraduate Research Symposium but also delivered a polished, detailed presentation of our work at the event’s Nourishing Creativity. I also had the honor of serving as an Academic Honors Hearing panelist from both campuses and was inducted into Omicron Delta Kappa, the honors society for leadership and service. As you might guess, I am TEAM FSU and The Ringling, forever grateful for the intellectual growth, practical training, access, responsibility, and trust in the worth of investment.”

Murphy Movsovitz

Murphy Movsovtiz is excited to complete his MA in Art History with a major in Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies this spring. He is sad to say goodbye to Tallahassee, the city he has called home for the past six years, but he cannot wait for the opportunities opening up to him in Denver, Colorado, where he will be moving later this year. Outside of his time grinding out papers and researching art, he could be found at LeMoyne Arts, where he worked as the Gallery Shop Manager and Community Connection Coordinator. He is incredibly thankful for the faculty in the FSU Art History department and to his wonderful team at LeMoyne Arts for always being there to support him over these past two years.

Megan Neely

Megan Neely is graduating with her Master of Arts in Art History after successfully defending her thesis “Marisa Merz: Converting Domestic Labor through Artistic Labor, 1966–1977” under the direction of Dr. Tenley Bick this spring. She will continue her studies at Florida State University, pursuing a PhD in Art History.

Olivia Akhavein, Max Carter, Julia Feldner, Kathryn Grim, Daniel Vasquez, and Claudia Wilkinson, who also earned the Bachelor of Arts in Art History; and Helene Lobree and Kaitlyn McCarthy, who will graduate this summer with the Bachelor of Arts in Art History.
