Free Film Screening of The Green Knight, Thursday Evening September 9

The Medieval Studies Organization (MSO) and the Department of Art History will host a free film screening of The Green Knight (2021) in 2005 William Johnston Building (WJB) on Thursday evening, September 9, at 6:30pm. The Green Knight stars Dev Patel, Alicia Vikander, and Joel Edgerton, and was directed by David Lowery.

Join fellow medievalists and medieval enthusiasts in this fantasy re-telling of the Arthurian legend Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. With cinematic mastery the film expands on the protagonist Gawain’s undefined adventures, vaguely described in the epic fourteenth-center poem. Yet it also remains faithful to many details in the poem, and introduces themes and symbols familiar to medievalists.

The event is free and open to the public; face coverings are expected.
