Dr. Lorenzo Pericolo Contributes Essays and Presentations to Guido Reni Exhibition at The Prado

Published April 9, 2023

Since the publication in 2019 of his two-volume critical edition of Carlo Cesare Malvasia’s Life of Guido Reni, Art History department chair Dr. Lorenzo Pericolo has continued work on this outstanding Italian painter of the baroque, a key figure between Caravaggio and Annibale Carracci. For the 2023 international exhibition Guido Reni organized by the Museo del Prado, Madrid, Dr. Pericolo contributed the essay “Novità: Guido Reni and Modernity” and twenty-six catalogue entries.

In March, Dr. Pericolo traveled to Madrid to attend the exhibition opening at the Prado. On this occasion, he made the following short presentation of some of the paintings on display for the museum’s Instagram account. In June 2023, Dr. Pericolo will give a presentation at the Prado international congress on Guido Reni: “Exhausting the Idea: Guido Reni’s Last Manner and the Future of Art.”
