CALL FOR PAPERS: 40th Annual Art History Graduate Stude …

The Florida State University Art History faculty and graduate students invite current PhD and MA students to submit abstracts for papers to be presented at the 40th Annual Art History Graduate Student Symposium. The symposium will take place March 1–2, 2024, on our main campus in Tallahassee, FL. The deadline for submission of abstracts is November 1, 2023.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Mora Beauchamp-Byrd to Florida State University this fall as Associate Professor of Art History and Director of Museum and Cultural Heritage Studies. An art historian, arts administrator, and curator, she specializes in the art and visual culture of the African Diaspora; Art of the Americas; British art; global modern & contemporary art; museum & curatorial studies; and representations of race, class and gender in American comics.

Doctoral candidate Caitlin Mims is the recipient of a Fulbright Greece-Turkey Joint Research Award for the 2023-24 academic year. Caitlin will conduct research at the American School of Classical Studies in Athens and at Marmara University in Istanbul.

Dr. Weaver is an historical archaeologist focusing on material culture and the built environment, including visual arts and architecture, among indigenous and African-descended peoples of Latin America.
