Post-Doctoral Fellowship

The Center for the Art of East Asia (CAEA) and the Department of Art History at the University of Chicago invite applications for a postdoctoral fellowship in conjunction with the CAEA’s digital humanities initiative, the Dispersed Chinese Art Digitalization Project (DCADP). The selected candidate will be appointed as a Postdoctoral Scholar for an initial term of one year, with reappointment possible for a total of four years. This research-based position will assist the Project’s scholarly engagements and includes the following:
  • Research of artifacts and related objects featured in the DCADP Project
  • Organization of annual DCADP conference
  • Assist DCADP publications and publish scholarly works using project materials
  • Assist in planning and curating of DCADP-related exhibitions.

 

Requirements

  • Applicants must have completed all requirements for receipt of a Ph.D. in Art History or a related field by the start of the position, with a specialization in Chinese art history in any subfield or period

 

Preferred qualifications

  • Research focuses on Chinese art and architecture of the Medieval and Middle Periods
  • Interest in digital humanities, museum studies, collection history, and/or studies of cultural relics and heritages
  • Ability to incorporate digital imaging technologies in art historical research
  • Ability to work with texts and images in both English and the Chinese language
