Professor Bauer to Collaborate in 2018 Getty Consortium Seminar

Published January 6, 2018

Professor Doron Bauer has been invited to collaborate with Professor Alka Patel, Getty Scholar and Associate Professor of Art History, University of California, Irvine, to teach the 2018 Getty Consortium Seminar on Iconoclasm and Vandalism. As part of the seminar, Professor Bauer will travel twice this year to the Getty Center, Los Angeles, to lecture on the mechanisms of iconoclasm and the erasure of Islamic material culture in conquered Islamic cities in Iberia and Africa between the twelfth and the sixteenth centuries. The annual Getty Consortium Seminar provides a unique learning experience by combining lectures and hands-on examination of objects from The J. Paul Getty Museum.

In addition, following an invitation by Professor Etienne Anheim, Bauer will lead a one-day seminar on February 21 on Art Production and the Art Market in Late Medieval Iberia at the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS), Paris.
