Call for Papers: University of Alabama and UA at Birmingham Joint Program for the MA in Art History

The faculty of UA and UAB invite students currently working towards an MA in Art History to submit abstracts (250-word) for 20 min. papers to be presented at our 28th Annual Graduate Student Symposium. We welcome papers that represent research from any area in the History of Art, Architecture, Museum or Cultural Studies. Notification of acceptance will be sent in early January 2023. The symposium will take place in person at the University of Alabama campus on Friday, March 31, 2023, with a few spots for virtual participation (Considerations for virtual participation will take into account the location of the presenter upon acceptance of the abstract).

Undergraduate Poster Session Proposals

To encourage the work of emerging scholars in the discipline, we also invite undergraduate art history majors to submit proposals for presentations of senior-level or thesis work in a poster session, to be held during the day of the Symposium.  Proposals should consist of a 250-word abstract regarding the project and be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from the student’s advisor or major professor. Please submit completed proposals by December 16, 2022 to Dr. Tanja Jones (tljones10@ua.edu).  Notification of acceptance will be sent in early January. Please do not hesitate to contact Dr. Jones with questions.
