Graduate Reading Knowledge in Italian

Published March 29, 2018

Silvia Valisa will be offering a Graduate Reading Knowledge in Italian (ITA5060) this summer during Session C, T-R 2:00-5:20 (from Tuesday, June 25 through Thursday August 3) and is hoping to have a great group of students.

The goal of the course is to train students to read Italian at different levels. We will start with basic grammar points and then bridge into more complex structures. In the second part of the course, we will focus especially on the genres and practices that you are most interested in. Depending on your research fields (and passions), we will touch on contemporary idioms, literary and media practices, medieval and Renaissance vernacular, and specific disciplinary jargon (history, music, medicine, art history, archaeology, classics, museum studies, creative writing, fiction and so forth).

The Graduate Reading Exam will take place on the last day of classes (enrollment in the class is a prerequisite for exam admittance).
