Professor Lynn Jones Receives Fellowship for Research in Istanbul

Published March 15, 2018

Professor Lynn Jones has been awarded a Short-Term Senior Fellowship at Koç Üniversity’s Research Center for Anatolian Civilisations (RCAC) in Istanbul, Turkey. Dr. Jones will spend the month of April researching and writing a chapter of her current book-in-progress, The Imperial Cult in Middle Byzantine Art (contracted with Routledge). Her particular focus while in Istanbul will be the cult of Constantine I. The city retains many Byzantine depictions of Constantine, chief among them the tenth-century vestibule mosaic in Hagia Sophia. Jones will closely investigate these objects and will also take advantage of the many academic research centers in Istanbul. In addition to RCAC’s library, she will work in the American Research Institute in Turkey, the Patriarchal Library, and the Archive and Library of the Topkapı Palace Museum.
