Meet the Correspondents: Undergraduates Preparing Spring Newsletter Articles

Published November 19, 2018

Twelve undergraduates in Jean Hudson‘s Information Technology for the Art Historian class (ARH 2814) have been researching and composing articles this month for the Spring 2019 department newsletter and website. Incorporating interviews, short essays, and online publishing, the project is designed to help prepare students for the kind of marketing and outreach writing assignments they may encounter in museum and education professions. The assignment also gives undergraduates a chance to get to know other Art History students, professors, and alumni, and to research possible career paths and new technologies for teaching.

Student article topics this semester include alumni and student profiles, a recap of the fall Museum Object exhibition, and training for Art Historians in new technologies, including an upcoming course in documentary filmmaking and the recent Museum & Cultural Heritage Studies workshop in 3D photogrammetry techniques.
