Talks: G40 WJB
Tea: Art & Design Library
Alternating Fridays at 4 pm
This spring the Department of Art History hosts a series of alternating lectures and tea with the faculty on Friday afternoons.
On Friday, April 12, Dr. Tenley Bick will present “Ghosts for the Present: Postcoloniality and Interventionist Art in Contemporary Italy.” In her lecture, Dr. Bick will discuss how contemporary artists and art collectives in Italy, including Wu Ming, Invernomuto, and ZaLab, are using art as a form of cultural activism. Her talk will examine how these artists are calling attention to Italian colonialism and related histories as agents of racial violence in Italy and the present European migration crisis.
On Friday, April 19, join us in the Art & Design Library (2020 WJB) for a casual tea with the faculty. All Art History grads, majors, and minors welcome – bring a friend!
